Maximum levels of THC in food
The Ministerial Decree of 4 November 2019 (OJ No 11 of 15-1-2020) defines maximum levels of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) in foods derived from hemp. The Decree lays down the values of the maximum concentrations (maximum limits) of total THC in food for the purposes of official control.
Foods derived from hemp are defined in Annex I of the Decree and are:
– seeds
– flour obtained from seeds
– oil obtained from seeds
The maximum limits of total THC in food are shown in the table (Annex III of the decree).
THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) total means the concentration resulting from the sum of the concentrations of the substance «Δ9-THC ( (-)-trans- Δ9-THC» and the non-active acid precursor «Δ9-THCA-A (delta9tetrahydrocannabinolic acid A)».

Sampling
Sampling of food must be carried out in accordance with the basic rules laid down in Regulation (EC) No 401/2066 in order to obtain a representative homogenous laboratory sample. Sampling must be carried out in accordance with the basic rules laid down in Regulation (EC) No 401/2066. Our ISO 9001:2015 certified laboratory carries out the analysis of THC and other cannabinoids (CBD, THCA, CBDA and CBN) and issues the certificate of analysis attesting the concentrations of total THC in foods derived from hemp. The analyses are carried out on LCMS system (liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry) as required by the DM of 9 November 2015 and by Recommendation (EU) 2016/2115.
The offer is for two types of analysis:
CIN-1 food
Analysis of the 2 cannabionids thc and thca, to get the total thc.
CIN-2 food
